Iggy Azalea Slams Lorde Over Performance

Souther rapper Australian model Iggy Azalea has a problem with Lorde, and it has nothing to do with Lorde being a larger commercial and critical success than her. Iggy is fuming over Lorde’s tribute to Nirvana during April’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Lorde sang a cover of “All Apologies,” which for some reason rubbed Nick Young’s girlfriend the wrong way.

“Nothing against her, but I think when you’re doing a tribute to someone that’s dead, generally it should be the person’s peer,” she told Billboard. “Lorde is not Kurt Cobain’s peer. No matter if she killed the performance or not, I just don’t think it’s appropriate.”

Lorde has yet to comment on the remarks, probably because she’s busy being 17, but it wasn’t long ago that Lorde actually defended Azalea’s critically-panned garbage album, New Classic. When Complex gave the project less than stellar reviews, Lorde posted this message online:

“Bugs me how publications like Complex will profile interesting artists in order to sell copies/get clicks and then shit on their records? It happens to me all the time, Pitchfork and that ilk being like, “Can we interview you?” after totally taking the piss out of me in a review. Have a stance on an artist and stick to it. Don’t act like you respect them then throw them under the bus.”

That Lorde, class act. Iggy, classic shot thrower.
