Tracy Morgan remains in critical condition and is being treated a New Jersey hospital, following a fatal car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike over the weekend.

According to Morgan’s rep, the comedian is showing signs of improvement, but that doctors expect the star to be hospitalized for several weeks. “He has been more responsive, which is an incredibly encouraging sign,” Morgan’s publicist, Kay Lewis said on Sunday.

“His family is tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans,” he added.

As previously reported, Morgan was a passenger in a limo van early Saturday morning when a tractor-trailer struck the van, causing it to overturn. According to Sgt. Gregory Williams of New Jersey State Police, “the driver of the tractor-trailer failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead.”

Comedian James McNair, who was also a passenger in the limo was killed in the crash.

On Saturday night, the truck driver responsible for the crash turned himself into police and was released on a $50,000 bail. Kevin Roper, 35, is being charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto.
