Dave Chappelle is more spontaneous that we thought.
The 40-year-old has been hot on his press tour promoting his forthcoming shows at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. So on Tuesday morning, the star did the unimaginable … He crashed NBC’s Today show.
During the morning program, a loud knock came from the window situated behind the hosts … Sure enough, it was Dave, holding up a sign that read: “Radio City! June 18-26.”
Welp, the cast couldn’t just leave Dave outside, so they sent Matt Lauer out for a little impromptu interview. “This is one of the most grass roots advertising campaigns I have ever seen,” Lauer told the comedian. “You’ve got concerts coming up, you had five originally, you hadn’t been at Radio City for a long time … Those five concerts sold out in five minutes. Why were sales so sluggish?”
Chappelle responded, “I can’t believe that I sold one of them out. But we are doing four more shows. They went on sale last week.”
Then the comedian asked … “Are we on television right now? I thought this was a run through.”
