Why Bow Wow Is Changing His Name … Again!

Goodbye Bow Wow, hello Shad Moss. In an Instagram video message posted over the weekend, 106 & Park host Bow Wow shared with fans that he wants to be referred to by his legal name going forward.

“ANNOUNCEMENT: After BET Awards, I will no longer go by Bow Wow! I’m going by my real name, “Shad Moss,” we made alot of history as Bow Wow,” the 27-year-old captioned the Instagram video. “Now it’s time for the next chapter and challenge. Bow wow does not fit who I am today. I’m a father, businessman, TV host, actor and rapper! Time for Mr. Moss to take over!”

Moss kicked off his career with the moniker Lil Bow Wow, releasing his first album, Beware of Dog, in 2000 at age 13. In 2002, the rapper dropped the Lil from his stage name, becoming just Bow Wow.

So we guess this means no more songs rapping about Mickey Mouse chains?
