The rumor mill is buzzing with reports that Naya Rivera was dropped from Columbia Records, but the former Glee star’s rep tells HipHollywood that the reports are false.
“The newest story claiming that Naya Rivera was dropped from her recording contract with Columbia Records is absolutely false,” the rep said in a statement. “If the ‘news’ outlets who put out this story had bothered to contact anyone from her team they would have learned this was false. To be clear, any rumors or statements made as fact, that Naya Rivera was fired or let go from ‘Glee’ or dropped from her recording contract, are categorically false. Someone obviously has an agenda to damage Naya’s good name and the media are failing at their duty to responsibly vet their sources and verify what is true and what is not. Naya’s attorneys are prepared to take any and all legal action to enforce and protect her rights.”
Multiple sources confirmed to Billboard that Naya, who signed with the label in 2011, is “no longer on the Columbia Records roster.” But according to Rivera’s rep, not only are those reports bogus, but recent reports that the star was fired from Glee is also not true.
Last week, it was reported that Naya would not be returning for Season 6 of the hit FOX show. While reps for the actress say “Any reports or rumors circulating that Naya Rivera was let go or fired from Glee are absolutely untrue,” a source tells HipHollywood that Naya wanted to be let go from the show and did what she could to make that happen.
An insider close to Glee production tells us that, Naya started picking fights with producers and the director to get fired because she wanted out of her contract to pursue other career opportunities. After a series of arguments, we are told that producers made the decision to write her off the show.
If any of these reports are indeed true, it’s safe to say that the singer has had a rough year. Naya and ex-fiance, Big Sean ended their engagement earlier this month after just one year of dating.
