“All my life, I’ve been dreamin’ of you,” Beyonce croons on the new track “Dreams”, but who is she singing about?
Meet Jordy Asher aka Boots! He’s the producer responsible for many of the hits on Bey’s self-titled album, including “Drunk In Love” and “Partition”. “Dreams” is his latest track in which Yonce’ so graciously hopped on and blessed with her vocals. According to Vogue magazine, “Asher sent Beyoncé the dreamlike, hypnotic track, and asked for her thoughts. She sent it back, complete with her vocals.” Now, that’s a dream come true!
“I love that the song has me and what I’m doing in my realm and her and what she’s doing in hers, and it’s so completely opposite but they work incredibly together,” Asher told Vogue. “It’s just a really cool testament to our friendship and relationship to do something like this, and as natural as it was for it to exist in the way that it’s going to exist. I feel like I’ve been given my wings to fly. It’s the greatest kind of cosign you could get, from someone who truly, truly believes in you. As gifted and as brilliant as she is, and she is, to be able to believe in me in that regard is a really special thing.”
Jordy, who signed to Jay Z’s Roc Nation in 2013, is somewhat of a mystery man…but didn’t plan it that way.
“I never set out to be some ’mystery dude,’ ” says Jordy. “That was just a side effect from my sidestepping the normal conventional thing most people do. Most people would have just ridden that wave and then probably just ridden it right down a well. It’s not hard to get caught up in the hype.”
Take a listen to Boots track “Dream” featuring the one and only Beyonce. Do you love it?
