Lupita Nyong’o Lands ‘People’ Cover, Named Most Beautiful Woman!

Congratulations Lupita Nyong’o!  The Academy Award winner has officially been named one of People’s most beautiful woman.

The Kenyan beauty, who quickly became a rising star after her role as Patsey in Steve McQueen’s, 12 Years a Slave, has had in incredible year. From winning her first Oscar, to making history as Lancome’s first Black ambassador, to now being named the most beautiful woman, it’s clear that 2014 is going to be the star’s year.

Nyong’o graces the cover of People’s forthcoming issue in colorful separates; a pink crop top and a stunning orange skirt. As the star smiles for the camera, her left arm softly grazes the back of her neck.

“It was exciting and just a major, major compliment,” the 31-year-old said about the cover. I was happy for all the girls who would see me on it and feel a little more seen.”

Several celebrities responded to the big announcement and sent their love to the star via social media. Gabrielle Union re-posted the cover on Instagram, writing:

“Over the moon!!! Love Love Love.”

Tameka Raymond also responded to the cover, making Lupita her #WCW.

And aside from her stunning looks, the 31-year-old star was also considered last award season’s fashion winner. In January 2014, the actress graced the cover of DuJour Magazine’s Winter issue. While on the red carpet to celebrate the star’s first US solo cover, Nyong’o opened up about her love for fashion.

“Fashion is art and art is collaboration. I have amazing artists to collaborate with so we all conspire together on what to do next,” she told us. “I love Iman [Abdulmajid]. I’ve always thought she was fabulous. She is regal. Elizabeth Taylor is also a major inspiration of mine. I like to pay homage to such people.”
