From blinds, to battles, to solos … The top 12 finalist of NBC’s The Voice has finally been announced. Next week, the top competitors will kick off finals week and battle it out to see who will become America’s next top singing star.
But ahead of the vocal gauntlet, the singers are doing what they can to win over voters. On Tuesday night, the finalists from team Adam, Usher, Shikra and Blake performed an intimate concert at the Universal City Walk and treated fans to some great music. But before hitting the stage, HipHollywood caught up with some of the finalists to talk about rising to fame overnight.
“Its definitely just an eye opener for me having gone from average Joe college student to being on a nationally known television show singing my heart out. I can’t even describe it,” T.J. Wilkins of Team Usher told us.
While on the red carpet, some of the finalists also let us in on a few little secrets about their famous coaches. To no surprise, contestant Tess Boyer revealed that not only is Shakira so sweet and humble, but also she … Smells delicious.
“I wanted to ask her ‘what are you wearing because I need to get some of that,'” Boyer explained. “It’s like an angel lying in a bed of roses. I promise you. It’s perfection.”
And as for Usher, the r&b singer is a little goofball. “One thing everybody does not know about Usher is that he is a complete jokester. In our rehearsal sessions I try to go in and always be serious and the first thing he does is ‘lets break this ice.’ He is telling jokes, we are laughing, we are jarring back and forth, it’s great,” competitor T.J Wilkins tells us.
