‘Vanity Fair’ Celebrates Black Hollywood!

Published

2013 was an incredible year for African-American films and the “Hollywood Issue” cover of Vanity Fair definitely reflects that.1391377260899_3-hollywood-cover-2014-640-new-logo

For the 20th annual Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue, the magazine celebrates a year of spectacular film with a group of distinguished actors. The cover, a three-panel foldout by Vanity Fair contributing photographer Annie Leibovitz, features Oscar nominees Julia Roberts (August: Osage County), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club), and Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), as well as Idris Elba (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), George Clooney (Gravity), Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station), Naomie Harris (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), Brie Larson (Short Term 12), Chadwick Boseman (42), Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street), and Léa Seydoux (Blue Is the Warmest Color).

In recent years, the mag had been criticized for its lack of diversity on the cover of their “Hollywood Issue”, but it’s worth noting that the number of white actors is equal to that of Black actors this year. Standing front and center of the tri-fold cover is Hollywood’s newest “it girl” Lupita Nyong’o. To her left, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael B. Jordan, while on her right Naomie Harris, Chadwick Boseman all looking stunning in high fashion gowns and tuxedos.

The 20th annual Vanity Fair “Hollywood Issue” hits stands February 11th. In the meantime check out some behind-the-scenes pics snapped by photographer, Rachel Williams!

Don’t Worry, Stacey Dash Still Hates Us Black Folks!

Pigs are not flying and hell has not frozen over…

When Damon Dash announced that he was doing a movie called “Honor Up” with Cam’ron and his cousin, conservative Trump-lover extraordinaire Stacey Dash, the internet exploded. The poster alone, with Dash sporting braids and hoop earrings, was enough to torch Stacey’s mentions reminding the actress of her BET-hating, Obama-shading ways.

Captioned, “This is really happening #HonorUp in theaters February #staytuned,” folks really believed Damon. Even ESPN’s Jemele Hill pulled Stacey’s card…

But it seems as though Damon may be out here spreading #FakeNews. Stacey has put her cousin on blast for using their family ties to promote the film.

However, it’s worth noting that Dash didn’t say she wasn’t in the film … just that she doesn’t have a written contract with Damon or Kanye West production company to use her name or image in advertising. Things that make you go, hmmmm.
