ICYMI: Bruno Mars Channels James Brown In Super Bowl Halftime Performance

On Sunday night, Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers rocked the house during their highly anticipated halftime show at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

In a performance of a lifetime, Mars, who opened up with his hit “Locked Out of Heaven,” gave fans his uber retro, old school vibe as he sported a  gold lamé jacket, black tuxedo pants and busted out moves similar to the late, James Brown. During the 12-minute show, the style icon even performed a few lines from Isley Brothers’ “Shout!”

The Red Hot Chili Peppers made their debut performance with their popular track “Give It Away” which perfectly transitioned out of Mars’ “Runaway Baby.”

During a backstage interview after the performance, the 80’s rock band said that they were thrilled to be able to take the stage with Hawaii native. “Bruno Mars is a complete and utter gentleman. I gained a ton of respect. He was awesome, intelligent (and) kind,” Kiedis said.

Flea added, “Bruno is a very nice man and his band(mates) are a bunch of sweethearts and it was very nice to work with all of them.”
