It was a galaxy of shining stars on Saturday night as celebrities arrived to the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Hundreds of stars filled the auditorium in their fashions best, but unfortunately not everybody knocked it out of the park. While the color blue seemed to be the favorite hue of the evening … There were some fashion looks that were total hits and total misses.
Topping HipHollywood’s list for best dressed, 12 Years a Slave star, Lupita Nyong’o. The “Best Supporting Actress” winner stunned in this teal blue Gucci gown, embellished with a floral neckline. The Kenyan beauty proved she was going to be the season’s best at the 2014 Golden Globes when she wore a red Ralph Lauren gown and cape.
American Hustle’s, Jennifer Lawrence was a total hit in this strapless blue, sequin Dior dress. While most fashion critics praised the star for her choice of wardrobe, the young star seemed to be uncomfortable in the garments. “I know I have armpit fat, it’s OK,” she told E! News while on the red carpet. “Armpit vaginas, it’s awful.”
Cate Blanchett was totally jaw dropping in an exquisite, blush Givenchy dress. And aside from her dress, Blanchett also tops the list for giving one of the most memorable acceptance speeches of the evening. As she accepted the award for “Best Actress” for her role in Blue Jasmine, the star mocked Dallas Buyers Club star, Matthew McConaughey, who gave a rather lengthy speech when he was accepting the award for “Best Actor.”
“I’ve been away from the film industry for a long time making theatre, and … 29 seconds! Matthew McConaughey spoke about Neptune,” she said. “I think I can have five seconds!”
And for the fashion misses … We hate to say it but …
Kerry Washington; a scandal indeed. The pregnant star showed off her baby bump, literally, in a pink custom Prada crop top and black skirt. Washington usually gets an A in our book, but this time … complete fail.
Also making our worst dressed list, The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik, who completely missed the mark in an ill fitting gothic-inspired gown.
And Game Of Throne‘s star, Emilia Clarke’s custom rose-gold gown by Calvin Klein Collection just didn’t fit the bill.
