TIME Staff Delusional: Names ‘Yeezus’ Album Of The Year

Published

on

The people at TIME magazine are clearly smoking something because they just named Kanye West’s Yeezus album the number one album of the year. It’s a good album, but album is the year seems like a publicity move on the publication’s part to either sell magazine or get on Ye’s good side.

“Kanye is the best there is, and he’s still not as good as he thinks he is. Has there ever been another great album this bitter, this entitled, this abrasively unsatisfied — or this self-aware about it? (See its most-quoted joke: “In a French-ass restaurant/Hurry up with my damn croissants.”) Yeezus is brief, spare, nasty, and as charismatic as a cult leader. Its music grinds sourly or lurches like an old rollercoaster; West’s voice drips contempt or hides behind frigid Auto-Tune effects. But Yeezus, has he ever got raw power.”

Whoa! Someone must have just taken a sucking up class, and graduated with honors in the art of lying to themselves. Yeezus may have been the best Kanye West album to drop in 2013, but Drake, Pusha T and Jay Z also had solid albums. And have you listened to Lorde’s debut album? Try again TIME.

Yeah spin magazine #1 of 2013

    rolling stone #2

    complex #1

    they must all be delusional

while hiphollywood has it correct, lol
Just because you may not like him as a person, doesn’t mean the album is bad.

Like Matt said the more you listen to yeezus the better and better it gets. It’s one of those albums that i can listen all the way through without skipping tracks.

compared to jay-z mchg which was commercialized garbage with a fake revolution message.

Amen, his album was No. 1, it made you think, it made you go and find out if what he was talking about was true, and for the most part what he is saying is true. Love or Hate him, Kanye goes for the truth, I guess people are so used to being lied to about everything that when the truth comes, you want to call the truth teller (crazy, oh the must be on something, or their calling for the mans life, which most of these comments are). SHUT UP and listen to what he’s talking about, no ones saying Jay Z, or others albums weren’t brilliant I personally loved Kanye’s more and its alright people, before you start calling me names, saying die, I have that right to like the album, and to like Kanye. Instead of listening to everybody else, check it out for YOURSELF, check the facts.

According to metacritic, on most end of the year lists Yeezus is #1, so what the fuck is the author of the article talking about?

No album this year could compare. I think the only one that had a chance to top Yeezus was Em’s album, but it did not turn out as well as it was supposed to. Bottom line, every song on this album is a hit. The production of it, the lyrics, everything. Amazing quality. Hate him, but his music is amazing. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

i really liked Kanye’s first 3 albums, but Yeezus is terrible, i totally agree with this article, if this is the best rap album then rap is in trouble!!

The yeezus album was a piece of art. With creativity, followed by beats that no one expected Kanye to compose. That is the genius behind it, being able to attempt a different style, giving people something they’re not use to. As people have stated through out the year “I only like his old stuff” “I like old kanye” “HIs old stuff was the best”. Kanye isnt a closed minded person what so ever, expanding his style and exploring new ways to be creative. Yeezus was an unexpected style, along with the lyrics. If you attempt to listen to his album and expect old kanye that wouldnt happen here. Listen beyond the lyrics, pay attention to how the production was put together. How every song has a meaning. Album of the year.

Yeezus is the most experimental album in rap history. We have never an album like Yeezus. Kanye really out did himself. He found a way to combine rap, hip hop, rock, edm & soul music into one album.

As a rap fanatic for 15+ years I’ll have to disagree. For the reasons very articulated below. But wtf does this site know about music, that does matter so much because your motive is more about getting hits and boosting traffic. I wish the best to your site hope this article and comment helped. xxoxo Somebody who likes Lorde and Kanye and thinks your site is trash

I love how they say Yeezus was shit but it was on a different level than every other album this year. I also love how they don’t say what should’ve been the AOTY. The only albums that come close to Yeezus are Wold, Old and Doris.

I can’t believe this trash website just compared Yeezus to the mediocre crap that was release by drake and jay-z. Pusha’s album is the only one who can compare. Yeezus is getting praise from more than just TIME magazine, check Metacritic for those who don’t believe me. Yeezus is winning by a landslide up to this point for Album of the Year for ALL GENRES.

Yeezus is a really good album start to finish. I love the music but I don’t love the artist. And that’s okay. Great product, my choice to buy. Good Kid maad city is right there with Yeezus.

Magna Carta Holy Grail was a shit album. Nothing Was The Same was forgettable. My Name Is My Name had four really strong songs on it but the rest was kind of garbage.

It’s either #1 or #2 on the vast majority of credible lists this year… some fucking biased idiot wrote this article. Comparing it to Jay Z and Drake’s disappointing albums smh

The Good, Bad And Ug… Less Flattering At The NAACP Image Awards

Published

on

This year, the NAACP Image Awards were held on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. As we all know, Dr. King had a dream, and for many on the red carpet it was a dream come true. But unfortunately, there were some nightmares … fashion nightmares.

Here’s our list of then stars who were hot and those who left us bothered. First, let’s start with the hot…

Halle Berry – Getty Images

And it doesn’t get hotter than Halle Berry showing half her body. Ms. Berry slayed in this Reem Acra gown reminding then youngin’s that she’s still got it.

Storm Reid – Getty Images

And speaking of youngin’s A Wrinkle In Time star Storm Reid may be relatively new to the game, but she showed up on the carpet looking like a vet in this adorable Yanina number.

Yara Shahidi – Getty Images

Yara Shahidi also showed up serving #BlackGirlMagic in this beautiful Vera Wang dress.

Kerry Washington – Getty Images

And Kerry Washington killed it, also wearing black, in this Michael Kors stunner.

But as we know, with the good comes the bad, and the bad this time around came courtesy…

Danielle Brooks, we love our Orange Is The New Black boo, but this Michael Costello look just didn’t work for her.

Ava DuVernay – Getty Images

We also love Ava DuVernay, but unfortunately this Greta Constatine jumpsuit didn’t have us jumping for joy.

Lil Mama – Getty Images

Lil Mama left us wanting more in this navy blue feathery frock … actually it may be her hair that left us disappointed.

LeToya Luckett – Getty Images

And adding to our disappointment was Letoya Luckett wearing a purple gown that had scallops and bows and slits … oh my!

Do you agree with our hots and nots?
