The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department arrested a teen on Thursday accused of jacking a piece of the Porsche Paul Walker was in when he died in a fiery crash last weekend.
According to the sheriff’s department the man “occurred” as the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT was being towed from the accident scene on Saturday night.
“A witness saw a male exit a vehicle that was following the tow truck,” the Sheriff’s Department said on Friday. “The male grabbed a piece of the wrecked Porsche off the tow truck bed.”
18-year-old Jameson Witty was taken into custody at his home in Los Angeles where authorities recovered a t-top roof panel. Witty even took to Instagram to share photos of the swiped roof. “Piece of Pail Walker’s car, took it off a tow truck at a stop light,” he wrote on the social media website.
Witty was arrested on suspicion of grand theft and tampering with evidence and was being held on $20,000 bail, officials said.
The LASD also said that a second suspect, who is out of state, has been contacted and is “making arrangements” to surrender himself.
