On Tuesday morning, unicef launched a campaign to support the families and children whose lives were effected by Super Typhoon Haiyan. Rihanna, who teamed up with the organization to kick off the campaign, took to social media to remind her fans that she is there for the children of the Philippines.
The American Music Awards first “Icon Award” recipient posted the campaign’s graphic on Instagram, captioning: “I’m there for the children of the Philippines. Are you? #ThereAfterHaiyan.”
“Emergencies make headlines, but the recovery continues long after the news cameras leave,” RihRih said in a statement. “Having been a fan and supporter of UNICEF’s work over the years, I am honored to join them in helping children who have been impacted by Typhoon Haiyan. More than five million kids in the Philippines need our help. UNICEF is there for them today, and for the long road ahead, and so am I,” she added.
The 25-year-old also donated $100,000 to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. Some of the other celebrity supports include Vanessa Hudgens, Skylar Diggins and MLB star Robinson Cano.
