Kanye West, never a man to stray from controversy, has been making headlines this week for plastering the confederate flag on his Yeezus tour merchandise and rapper Q-Tip has something to say about it.
“F*ck the confederate flag,” the former A Tribe Called Quest member wrote on Twitter earlier this week. But the rapper’s angry tweet about Ye’s choice of design sparked debate among Twitter followers, which led Q to go back and clarify his comment.
“I love Kanye no shots but my people continue to suffer psychologically from hardships that happened under that banner,” Tip wrote on the social media network.
During a recent interview with AMP Radio, Kanye addressed the controversial symbol on his clothing, saying,”The Confederate flag represented slavery in a way. That’s my abstract take on what I know about it, right? So I wrote the song, ‘New Slaves.’ So I took the Confederate flag and made it my flag. It’s my flag now. Now what you gonna do?”
