Actress Loretta Devine was honored with a “Lifetime Achievement Award” this Monday at the 23rd annual NAACP Theatre Awards. The award show, held by the Beverly Hills Hollywood branch of the NAACP at the Saban Theater, was a star-studded event celebrating the Black stage.

Among the lineup of guests and awardees, Vanessa Williams was presented with the “Trailblazer Award”, an honor her peers thought was well deserved.

“I’m profoundly thankful, I have been acknowledged by the NAACP before for my recording and for my television work so this is yet another aspect of my career that I am very proud of and its great that success has eased on into this category,” said Williams.

Other notable guests included Raven Simone, Lisa Rae McCoy, Lenny Williams, Robert Townsend and Dawn Lewis.
