Actor Idris Elba had a medical scare over the weekend after suffering an asthma attack on a plane preparing to depart the United Kingdom.
Sky News claims that Elba was on a flight bound for South Africa when the asthma attack happened. The former Wire actor was removed from the plane and rushed to the hospital before it took it off. Elba was headed to Johannesburg to attend the premiere of his new film, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
“Idris is in hospital after an asthma attack on the plane last night,” producer Anant Singh told reporters at a press conference in Johannesburg on November 2, according to the Independent.
Despite the medical emergency, the 41-year-old still managed to make it to the November 3 premiere of his new flick.
On November 7, the cast of the film will attend a screening hosted by President Obama at the White House, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
