Ashanti Lands TWO New Gigs!

Published

on

Ashanti is really about this actress life.

Following her stint on the now cancelled Lifetime drama Army Wives, the singer has booked two new gigs.

First up, Ashanti will guest star on tonight’s episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The episode, “Dissonant Voices,” tells the story of a singing coach and popular TV personality who is being accused of sexual abuse by his students.

“I’m playing a celebrity Judge in the ‘SVU’ world of a singing competition show called ‘American Diva’,” Ashanti tells HipHollywood.

Ashanti is set to grace the small screen again in the Lifetime movie, Christmas In The City. In the film, Ashanti plays a store consultant named Teanna. Read a blurb about the film below.

With the threat of having to close her father’s candy store, Wendy and her six-year-old daughter Grace travel to the big city in hopes of making extra holiday cash to save the store. When she’s offered a job in the toy department of Wolmans, the city’s biggest department store, Wendy can’t wait! Her excitement doesn’t last long when the store’s manager, Teanna, destroys the Christmas spirit throughout the store and replaces Santa with a hunky male underwear model surrounded by elfin “babes.” What Teanna is unaware of is that she has in fact sacked the real Santa. Unaware of his real “Santa” status, Beth reaches out to the old man but it seems even he has given up hope. With her daughter losing faith in the holiday, Wendy realizes she must bring the true meaning of Christmas back to Wolmans before it is too late.

Although Ashanti is focusing on her acting career, she’s not forgetting about her music. The Grammy award-winning singer will release her long-delayed album, BraveHeart, Winter 2014.

Law & Order: SVU airs tonight at 8/9C on NBC and Christmas In The City debuts on Lifetime December 7th at 8pm ET/PT…will you be watching?
