Kim Kardashian’s $2 million engagement ring is officially sold.
The 20.5 carat diamond and platinum ring designed by Lorraine Schwartz sold for $620,000 during Christie’s New York Magnificent Jewels auction on Tuesday in New York City. Bidding opened at $200,000 and quickly rose until it reached the final bid of $620,000. After commission and fees, the total price of the ring was $749,000, significantly less than its initial $2 million price tag.
Last month Kim’s ex-hubby, Kris Humphries, confirmed he would be auctioning off the ring he proposed to the reality TV star with back in 2011. Their 72 day marriage ended in a nasty divorce that was finalized in 2012.
Both are clear of the drama now and are looking forward. Kim loves her new life as a mom, giving birth to her daughter North four months ago with boyfriend Kanye West, and Kris is gearing up to start the NBA season with the Boston Celtics. With the ring out of the way, even better news is that a portion of the proceeds is set to go to charity.
