Kanye West and Jimmy Kimmel are back on good terms.
The rapper made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday night and buried the hatchet with the late night host. The duo confirmed that their Twitter feud over the host’s spoofed interview of Kanye’s sit-down with BBC was not a publicity stunt.
“Everyone out there in TV world, real world, whatever world you stay in, needs to know I’ve never done a publicity stunt in my life. Anytime I went up and spoke my mind, whether it put my career in jeopardy or whatever someone so called said, it was always what I thought was the truth … I don’t follow rules of normal celebrities or what the publicists tell them to say, I don’t do publicity stunts ever,” West said.
During last night’s interview, the new dad justified why he went on the Twitter tirade slamming the late night host.
“I know you. A combination of me knowing you, but also me not knowing the person who put a bad headline on the cover of InTouch, and me not knowing this person, I was like ‘this is the one person I know,’ West said. “So I can go and let out everything that I feel about every single bogus weekly cover, every single bogus skit … Every person who feels it’s okay to treat celebrities like zoo animals.”
Kimmel later referred to West calling himself a genius during the BBC interview, saying that it is a weird thing to say. “When you said you think you’re a genius, I think that upsets people,” Kimmel said.
“I’m totally weird,” West explained. “And totally honest and I’m totally inappropriate sometimes, and the thing is for me not to say I’m not a genius I’d be lying to you and to myself,” the “Black Skinhead” rapper shared.
Kanye’s interview on Wednesday night went so long, the night’s musical guest, the Arctic Monkeys, were bumped from the show.
