Kanye Kicks Off ‘Yeezus Tour’ With Jesus?
Kanye West kicked off his highly anticipated “Yeezus Tour” at Seattle’s Key Arena on Saturday night with a two-hour-plus show that featured Jesus himself. Yep you read that right. There were flashing lights, flurries of snow, a dozen dancers, a red-eyed demon, a mountain, and then a Jesus impersonator who helped Ye’ close the show.
According to MTV News the concert followed West on a quest to find his higher power. He opened the show with “On Sight” donning a white mask while his dancers waltzed down the stage, swinging thuribles and filling the Key Arena with Catholic incense. West would eventually perform his entire Yeezus album along with tracks from his Cruel Summer compilation album, 808s & Heartbreak and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. To close the show he climbed the set’s mountain to perform “Cold” then “I Wonder,” an emotional “Hey Mama” and “Stronger” before an actor dressed as Jesus appeared.
“White Jesus, is that you?” Kanye called out, finally taking off his mask and letting out a hilarious “Oh, sh–!” The religious-themed theatrics led to his 2004 single “Jesus Walks,” and then the show closer “Bound 2.”
