Kanye West could spend one year behind bars if convicted of battery and grand theft charges. On Friday, the rapper was officially charged with both misdemeanors, which carry a maximum sentence of six months each.
The counts stem from a July incident with a paparazzo outside of Los Angeles International Airport. Video captured of the run-in shows West grabbing the photographer and forcing him to the ground. “I told him twice, ‘I don’t want to fight you,'” Daniel Ramos said at an August press conference. “However, he attacked me anyway.”
Ramos also filed a lawsuit against West claiming his hip was injured during the scuffle.
Ye is scheduled for arraignment on October 10th.
