Kelly Rowland is Essence magazines new cover girl, and will grace the cover of the publication’s September issue. During the cover shoot, the singer shot an exclusive behind the scenes video where she dished on her own personal style.

“I’m constantly inspired by fashion. But I don’t necessarily like to follow directions,” the cover girl shared. “I think that you should do whatever works for you, whatever works for your body type,” she shared.

“You should wear the clothes, don’t let the clothes wear you,” the singer added.

When it comes to Rowland’s red carpet style, she shared that it’s all about being comfortable. “I always like to make sure that it does have a sensual quality to it, but I do like to make sure I’m comfortable … Shoes you have to be comfortable. Your dress should be comfortable … I like to make sure that I’m happy,” Rowland dished.

The 32-year-old also shared details behind her look on stage. “I’ve really been drawn to black a lot recently on the stage. I like a lot of things that kind of fit in the waist, and a lot of jackets … things that have a bit of bagginess to them,” the former Destiny’s Child member shared.

The September issue hits stands August 9.

Will also snapped some fun flicks with his son Jaden before greeting fans and speaking with reporters including HipHollywood.

He told HipHollywood that he was super excited to reunite with his Suicide Squad director David Ayer for the film, and would “work with him whenever he wants to.

“I love his madness how he creates,” gushes Smith. “How he thinks about scenes, the way he works with actors, it’s some of the best psychological work of any director I’ve ever worked with.”

In the film Smith plays an LAPD cop in a mythical world of orcs, elves and fairies … and Ayer told us, he couldn’t think of anyone better for the role.

“We had such a good time on Suicide Squad together and this role is kind of perfect for him, it’s an edgy movie, buts it’s funny. He’s got the best sense of humor of anybody I know.”

BRIGHT debuts on Netflix December 22. Peep the newest trailer below.
