Just In: Ruben Studdard To Join The Biggest Loser
Former American Idol winner Ruben Studdard is set to join next season of NBC’s The Biggest Loser. E!News has confirmed that the singer will join the reality show this Fall.
Studdard, who won Season 2 of AI, has had a history of obesity. After winning the singing competition show, the “Velvet Teddy Bear” gained nearly 100 lbs. Studdard told People back in 2003 that it’s more convenient to eat unhealthy. “I’m eatin’ on the road, late at night, whatever,” he told the publication.
In 2010, Studdard performed on Idol, and that’s when he shared that he was getting a handle on his weight. The singer explained that he lost nearly 80 pounds through a vegan diet and regular exercise.
Unfortunately, the 34-year-old gained the weight back after his divorce to Surata Zuri McCants back in 2011.
Ruben’s journey to get healthy again will be chronicled on the NBC show on Tuesday nights starting this Fall.
