Usher And Kendrick Lamar Take Home Big Awards

On Thursday night, Usher and Kendrick Lamar were honored at the 26th Annual ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

Usher was presented with the Golden Note Award for achieving extraordinary career milestones, while Kendrick Lamar received the Vanguard Award for his impact on music.

HipHollywood caught up with the “Poetic Justice” rapper on the red carpet to talk about being acknowledged for his creativity and talent. “It means a lot, it’s what I work for. That’s what it’s about at the end of the day, it’s really the music,” Lamar shared.

“Everything else around it is just the extra curricular activities, the publicity, the stunts, whatever the case that artists feel they may make. But at the end of the day, they always have to come back to the music and really show your skill,” the rapper told us.

During the awards ceremony, Diddy took the podium to congratulate Usher on his milestones, and reflect on what an amazing person Usher has become.

“Time after time, performance after performance, year after year, he always gives me that feeling. Most importantly, Usher’s that type of cat that picks up the phone … he called me the other day out of the blue just to see how I’m doing,” Diddy raved.

Chris Graham Reveals Best Advice Cousin Drake Has Given Him

There’s a new member to the OVO Sound family. Drake’s Toronto-based label is expanding it’s roster, and this time the new addition is actually family.

Drizzy has signed his first cousin Christopher “Royalty” Graham to OVO.

If you couldn’t tell from the last name, the Memphis-bred rapper is actually blood-related. His father and Drake’s dad, Dennis Graham, are brothers, and it’s safe to say music definitely runs through their genes.

We caught up with the new signee, who now just goes by the stage name Chris Graham, at the 2017 American Music Award’s about his upcoming project, who’s a better singer him or Drake, and the best advice his big cousin has given him.
