Exclusive: ‘Mercy’ Co-Writer Says Kanye West Gets Demonized
Kanye West’s controversial album Yeezus has been the talk of the month. Critics world wide have had negative opinions about the rapper’s sixth studio album, but one person is stepping out and saying it’s not fair that West is being scrutinized.
While on the red carpet for the ASCAP Awards on Thursday night, HipHollywood caught up with Kanye’s friend and “Mercy” co-writer, Malik Yusef, who shared his thoughts on Kanye receiving so much backlash. “People over scrutinize Kanye because of the amount of energy he puts out, but we don’t scrutinize any other group of people not even a person as much as we scrutinize Kanye West,” Yusef explained.
“Kanye gets demonized for saying what we all say and what we all do and think in our living rooms … It’s amazing to me how people can be so small minded and shallow when it comes to things that they choose not to embrace,” Malik added.
Yusef also shared with HH that since becoming a father, Kanye has been on cloud nine. “He’s doing well, he’s very excited, he’s very happy. Him and Kim are in love obviously, they love the baby, I’m just happy to have a new addition to the fam,” the “Mercy” writer shared.
