We’re just a little over a week away from the release of Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail, and Hov is slowly releasing more and more information about his upcoming album.
Lyrics to a track titled “Holy Grail” were revealed to fans on the Holy Grail Android app for the album. The song, which features Justin Timberlake and lyrics from Nirvana’s iconic song, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” appears to be about the struggles of a turbulent relationship in which the female cheats.
Hov, who usually keeps it real with his verses, drops this bombshell in the song:
“But soon as all that money blows / All the pigeons take flight / F*ck the fame / Keep cheating on me / What I do / I took her back / Fool me twice / That’s my bad / I can’t even blame her for that.”
At first glance, it could seem that Jay is talking about some dark times between King Bey and himself. However, in a video also available on the app Jay explains how the song is about the “trappings of fame” and how “you can chase something so much, and end up with nothing.”
Good to know Beyonce is in the clear! We’re still curious to hear the song that is scheduled to be released later today as the lead single off the album.
