The White House: We Didn’t Give Jay-Z Clearance To Visit Cuba

By  |

The White House is denying having a role in Jay-Z and Beyonce’s highly publicized trip to Cuba. After the rapper bragged about getting White House clearance to attend the country on a new song titled, “Open Letter”, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was forced to set the record straight during Thursday’s daily meeting with the press.

“I guess nothing rhymes with treasury, because treasury offers and gives licenses for travel, as you know, and The White House has nothing to do with it,” Carney retorted when asked why Jay rapped about Obama giving him permission. “It’s a song … the President did not communicate with Jay-Z over this trip.”
