Stars hit the purple carpet Saturday evening to shine light on a great cause. Supporters of the Jenesse Center, a domestic violence intervention program, gathered this weekend to honor and solute partners and volunteers that help make a difference.
Spearheaded by Halle Berry, a survivor of domestic violence, the weekend kicked off with the Silver Rose Awards Gala and Auction. Jurnee Smollett-Bell emceed the event, while advocates against domestic violence like Viola Davis attended the gala.
HipHollywood caught up with Davis, who was also a presenter for the evening, to talk about why the Jenesse Center is so incredible. “It’s an organization about giving women their lives back. I think it’s the best gift you can give a woman who has been abused,” Viola shared.
Among some of the honorees, Extra correspondent, Terri Seymour. Seymour became familiar with the center when she interviewed Halle Berry about the Jenesse Center back in 2009. “The Jenesse center family is so inspiring and amazing, and anything you can do to help is just natural. Feels like a given really,” the entertainment correspondent explained.
