Whether he’s taking trips to Cuba, buying and selling basketball teams or touring the globe, Jay-Z has captured the attention of most everybody, which is why he tops Time magazine’s list of “Most Influential People In The World”.
With a piece written by New York’s Mayor Bloomberg, the rapper is praised for overcoming his rough beginnings.
“Jay Z embodies so much of what makes New York New York. A kid from a tough neighborhood who grows up in public housing, overcomes lots of bad influences on the street, never lets go of his dream, makes it to the top — and then keeps going, pursuing new outlets for his creativity and ambition.” Mr. Bloomberg writes.
Jay-Z’s not the only heavy hitter on the list. He is joined by his wife Beyonce, the First Lady Michelle Obama and fellow musicians Miguel and Frank Ocean.
