Accidental Racist: LL Cool J, Brad Paisley’s Awkward Duet
We here at HipHollywood.com are a bit, well, confused. If you listen to country singer Brad Paisley and LL Cool J ‘s new song, “Accidental Racist”, it’s hard to believe the song is, well, real. On the track, Brad actually sings the following lyrics: “I’m just a White man, coming from the South Land, trying to understand what it’s like not to be.”
As the song progresses, you expect a Funny or Die meter to pop up, but it doesn’t. Instead you get LL rapping, “Dear Mr. White Man, I hope you understood, what the world is really like when you’re living in the hood. Just because my pants are sagging doesn’t mean I’m up to no good. You should try to get to know me. I really wish you would.”
Look, we love Mr. Smith, but this certainly isn’t Michael Jackson’s, “Black and White.” And while we appreciate the duo’s attempt to improve race relations in the United States with their introspective duet… we’re not sure it hits the mark they were aiming for.
Watch it for yourself and you be the judge.
