Medical Expert Explains Correlation Between Sizzurp And Seizures

Published

on

After spending several days in ICU, Lil Wayne was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Monday night and is home resting. Some have blamed the rapper’s recent series of seizures on his addiction to “sizzurp,” a mixture of codeine syrup and soda, but is there a correlation?

HipHollywood sat down with neurologist Chareles E. Neisen who shared the effects codeine has on a patient who is seizure prone, like Weezy. “Codeine in excess lowers seizure thresholds, so in somebody like Lil Wayne who has a history of seizures, taking a lot of codeine is going to put him at risk of having more seizures,” Dr. Neisen revealed.

Wayne allegedly went on a “sizzurp” binge last week, just hours after being released from the hospital for treatment for seizures. The rapper’s condition took a turn for the worst the following day and he was hospitalized again, but his camp is denying the seizures had anything to do with his reported “binge”.

Weezy’s addiction to the drug has been well documented, with the New Orleans native admitting it’s something he may never give up … even if it kills him.

Will also snapped some fun flicks with his son Jaden before greeting fans and speaking with reporters including HipHollywood.

He told HipHollywood that he was super excited to reunite with his Suicide Squad director David Ayer for the film, and would “work with him whenever he wants to.

“I love his madness how he creates,” gushes Smith. “How he thinks about scenes, the way he works with actors, it’s some of the best psychological work of any director I’ve ever worked with.”

In the film Smith plays an LAPD cop in a mythical world of orcs, elves and fairies … and Ayer told us, he couldn’t think of anyone better for the role.

“We had such a good time on Suicide Squad together and this role is kind of perfect for him, it’s an edgy movie, buts it’s funny. He’s got the best sense of humor of anybody I know.”

BRIGHT debuts on Netflix December 22. Peep the newest trailer below.
